Hello everyone and welcome to another Wednesday!
Today is an exciting post for me because it is going to be all about my holy grail makeup products. If you know me personally, you know that I LOVE makeup and walking into a Sephora or Ulta is equivalent to a kid walking in to a candy store. Because I am a lover of makeup, I tend to try out new products quite frequently. From testing out numerous different products, I have discovered my holy grail items.
The products that I am going to talk about today are included in my everyday makeup routine and I know that I can always count on them to perform.
Without further ado, let’s get started…
Most people would start with a primer, but because I don’t use one we will move right on to foundation.
When it comes to foundation, I look for something that is going to hold up for hours at a time and will keep me semi-matte to matte with medium to full coverage.
And the holy grail foundation winner is…
This foundation is amazing. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin and it gives me a nice even base. I tend to stray from this foundation sometimes, because I love testing out new foundation, but when I come back to it I question why I ever left it in the first place. This one is a real winner!
Up next we have my holy grail concealer…
When it comes to concealer, I like a coverage that is medium-ish and is most definitely not drying. When I need to cover and brighten up my undereyes, I always choose this concealer because it doesn’t let me down.
And the holy grail concealer winner is…
According to the amount of reviews on Ulta (over 3,000!), a lot of people can agree with me that this concealer is awesome! I love the ease of the applicator, although some people find it to be unsanitary. It gets the job done and blends like a dream. Highly highly recommend trying it out!
Next up is my holy grail setting powder…
Now I am not totally convinced that I have found my holy grail setting powder, but I do have one that I have been using in my current routine and it seems to get the job done.
The winner of the current favorite (working its way to holy grail status) setting powder is…
Now this lil guy is a pricey one, which is why I’m still testing it to see if it makes it into the holy grail category. I use this to set my concealer and then I dust a thin layer on my entire face to set my makeup. It makes my skin have a nice natural radiance to it, which I really like. I like to be matte, but not so matte where my face lacks life. I’ll update later when I use this for a little longer to figure out how its holding up.
Coming up next we have my holy grail blush…
Similar to foundations and concealers, I tend to test out different blushes, but there is one blush in particular that I always have in my makeup bag and that blush is…
This blush is so affordable and looks so beautiful on the skin. It gives you a nice sheen that brings some life to your cheeks! This blush is not sparkly or glittery, but rather it gives your cheeks a healthy glow.
And the next category is bronzer…
This category is so easy for me to choose my holy grail product, so let’s just get right in to it.
The winner for holy grail bronzer is…
You guys, if you have not tried out this bronzer yet, you need to go get it right now. It is amazing. It smells like a vacation and it looks so beautiful on the skin. I always go back to this bronzer and it seriously never disappoints. It looks great all day and its super affordable. I wear the shade bronzer which is the second darkest shade and it works perfectly for my fair skin.
Next up we have my holy grail highlighter…
I was never big on the blinding highlighter trend, so the highlighters I tend to use are more subdued and just give the skin a subtle glow. This product is easily one of the most affordable on my list, so if you want to try something and you’re on a tight budget, this would be your guy.
The winner of my holy grail highlighter is…
This highlighter is beautiful. I use this everyday to highlight my cheekbones, tip of my nose and my cupids bow. It is insanely affordable and the one I have will most likely last me for months and months.
Now that we have the base products accounted for it is time to move on to the eyes. I don’t use a primer on my eyes, but rather just a concealer, so we are going to skip over that. We will start with my holy grail eyeshadow palette…
I am a warm brown smokey eye kind of gal so this palette is heaven to me. I can create so many different look with this palette. Tarte has been making bomb eyeshadow palettes for a while now, so it’s no surprise that they fall into my holy grail category. This palette is a staple in my makeup bag and it makes for a great gift for someone who loves makeup 🙂
Lately when I do my eye makeup, I have just been using fireside from the toasted eyeshadow palette as an eyeliner and it gets the job done. I prefer using a dark brown eyeshadow as an eyeliner when I don’t want to be too heavy on the eyes. When I am using a liner, I tend to use a gel pot liner, but I haven’t found a holy grail yet, so stay posted.
Next up we have my holy grail mascara…
This is another easy choice for me. Again, I like to try out different mascaras depending on what kind of look I’m going for with my lashes, but I go back to one mascara that always works for me.
My holy grail mascara is…
L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Blackest Black $7.99 (ON SALE @ Ulta $5.59)
This mascara makes my lashes look long and full. I love the blackest black color because I prefer a dark lash. This mascara always holds up and doesn’t flake off throughout the day. It also doesn’t leave a dark residue underneath my eyes like other mascaras have done to me in the past.
Hopefully you’re still holding on with me as we move onto the second to last category, brows.
Ive been using the same brow product to fill in my brows for quite some time making it to holy grail status.
Without a doubt, my holy grail brow product is…
NYX Micro Brow Pencil $9.99
I use this pencil in the shade Taupe and I have naturally dark blonde eyebrows and this color matches perfectly. This pencil is definitely a dupe for the Anastasia brow wiz and only half the price! I’ve recently been testing out a new brow product to set my brows, but I haven’t been using it long enough to determine if it is holy grail status yet or not, so I will report back when I reach a decision.
Finally, we have reached the last holy grail product.
Now on a day to day basis, I don’t wear anything fancy on my lips. I just wear a chapstick and call it a day, but the chapstick I wear is easily a holy grail for me. I buy several of these at a time because they are amazing.
And the winner of the holy grail chapstick is…
Burt’s Bees Lip Balm $3.29
You might be thinking, “it’s just a chapstick what’s the big deal?” This is the best chapstick I have ever used. I’m obsessed with the pomegranate flavor. It gives my lips a nice healthy sheen and moisturizes the heck out of ’em. I put this on at night after I brush my teeth and I wake up with moisturized, soft lips. I also love that this chapstick has a slight tint to it giving my lips a natural “my lips but better” kind of look. I can’t recommend this chapstick enough!
If you are reading this, pat yourself on the back because you made it through this entire post! Like I’ve said in posts before and will continue to say in posts to come, these are products that have worked really well for me and might not work for you, and that’s fine! I would love to know if any of you have tried any of these products and your thoughts on them! Also, I love trying out new products, so leave me a comment telling me your favorites!
In the future, I plan to do a post dedicated to my holy grail makeup brushes, so if you would be interested in reading that give this post a ‘like’ so I know!
Have a wonderful rest of your week! See you all on Sunday!
